Packing Delicate Items
Client: | Father Rabbit |
Location: | Auckland |
Father Rabbit is a family-run business, started from the corner of a living room in 2010. Within 10 short years, the business had grown to include four locations across Auckland, opening its doors in Mount Eden, Herne Bay, Orakei Bay and Morningside.
The business has developed a beautiful range of linen, stationery, apparel and candles and employs about 30 staff.
Scope
The client was looking for packing benches for delicate, high-quality designer clothing, textile and homeware products. With such a variation of products available, finding one racking system to hold everything is impractical, so a better solution was needed.
Challenge
The biggest challenge for this project was the space available to set up a racking system. The tight warehousing space meant that greater flexibility was required.
Access to products needed to be quick and easy, but with the added complication of the delicate nature of the items. Alongside that, each item varies in size, shape, material and weight, meaning that any racking system installed needed to be able to handle all the different variables.
Solution
After some deliberation, we proposed both fixed and movable longspan benches with Melteca tops.
To make efficient use of the small space, the benches were fitted with wheels, allowing staff to move them around easily. Consideration was also given to staff height when designing the frames.
For the non-movable benches, we overlapped the tops, making them oversized, and creating more room for products.
The entire project was completed with minimal disruption to the store, resulting in greater storage room, a more efficient system and a very happy client.
