The
Railing
Solution
| Client: | ATEC Spine |
| Location: | Auckland |
ATEC is a medical technology company focused on revolutionising the approach to spine surgery. To ensure their health and safety requirements were met, Pallet Racking Solutions were committed to installing a handrail to suit their specific needs.
Scope
The client was after a handrail for their raised concrete floor.
The handrail was a Health and Safety requirement. The customer was working on additional upgrades in their warehouse, and the Council required sign-off for both the handrail and the new upgrades.
Challenge
This was difficult as we hadn’t supplied side-mounted rails before. There was also a lot of custom cutting required to achieve the desired angles for the stairs and ramp.
Solution
PRS worked with the client’s builder. After confirming that the regular floor-mounted barriers wouldn’t work, we suggested modifying the product.
Our team cut and drilled the horizontal rails we usually use onsite to make new side-mounted vertical rails.
We created a side-mounted handrail with a loading gate attached to the front of the concrete slab and the side of the wooden ramp.
We successfully installed the side-mounted barrier system with gates and kick plates. We achieved compliance and met customers’ needs for inbound pallets.

ATEC Spine is a medical technology company based in Auckland, specialising in spinal surgery innovation. Their raised concrete warehouse floor required a specially engineered handrail system for health and safety compliance. Pallet Racking Solutions worked with ATEC’s builder to create a fully side-mounted handrail with integrated barrier gates and kick plates. This solution was custom cut and drilled on-site to fit the complex angles of the stairs and ramp. PRS used pedestrian rails, barrier gates, and screw anchors to deliver a safe, code-compliant system that both met council requirements and ATEC’s operational needs.
