Here are some ways you can maximise your space

Reduce aisle widths

Are your aisles the right width? Massive space gains can be achieved by designing aisles to be the minimum width to match the material handling equipment you’re using, whilst still being able to operate efficiently. Narrow aisle racking uses regular pallet racking components, but spaces the aisles closer together. Our team can advise on the latest trends in material handling equipment.

Use cantilever racking

Versatile cantilever racking is excellent for long or heavy loads such as pipes or timber, and items of varying length. This racking is highly customisable and allows easy access to products regardless of their shape and size.

Go vertical

Ensure you’re using all the vertical space available, whilst complying with fire and emergency lighting requirements as well as meeting council building consent needs. In many cases you can still utilise your existing pallet racking and we can install splice kits and additional beams to realise the additional height.

Adjust your beam levels

One of the keys to success is ensuring you’re not storing air around an item. Changing your beam levels can allow several extra levels in each bay if you’ve effectively identified what gets used and when and adjusted your storage layout to suit. Add a level

Installing a raised storage platform, over the top of your current operations is a more cost-effective option than extending the current floor area and a whole lot less disruptive. Use wire mesh shelving

Wire mesh shelving and dividers complement selective pallet racking, long span shelving and other racking solutions. It gives strong support for boxes or other non-palletised loads, or loads not deep enough to sit on beams. Even if you want to store a pallet full of product, storing the goods off the pallet and directly on the wire mesh shelf frees up that extra space the pallet took up.

Try double-deep racking

Pallets are stored 2-deep and accessed using special trucks. Designed for excellent storage capacity, this system uses floor space efficiently by reducing the number of access aisles needed, and means forklifts have less distance to travel.

Use wire mesh cages

Wire mesh cages and stillages are a perfect solution for storing bulky and heavy items as they’re sturdy and durable, yet lightweight, and are invaluable when you need to store and move products in volume.

Use pick bins

Pick bins, parts trays and stackable storage boxes come in a huge range of shapes and sizes and utilise space brilliantly. These all interlock and can be used to create various bin depths in the same bay to best suit the stock size.
